Frequently-anticipated questions:

What does this data set describe?

Title:
Gridded bathymetric data (MTCAN5G, MTSHLF5G, SGF5G, SUR5G) and shaded relief images (MTCANSD.TIF, MTSHLFSD.TIF, SGFSD.TIF, SURSD.TIF) from EM300 multibeam surveys of the continental shelf from Moss Landing to Point Sur, California
Abstract:

The U.S. Geological Survey and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) acquired bathymetric and backscatter data with a multibeam (Simrad EM300) sidescan sonar system in the Monterey Bay region in 1998 (A4-98-MB, <http://walrus.wr.usgs.gov/infobank>). This data set consists of the bathymetric data that were collected from the continental shelf areas of the survey between Moss Landing and Point Sur, California. The data are provided as ArcInfo grids with 5-m resolution (MTCAN5G, MTSHLF5G, SGF5G, SUR5G) and as shaded relief images (MTCANSD.TIF, MTSHLFSD.TIF, SGFSD.TIF, SURSD.TIF).

This is one of a collection of digital files of a geographic information system of spatially referenced data related to the USGS Coastal and Marine Geology Program "Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Project" <http://walrus.wr.usgs.gov/mbms>. The data were collected and analyzed between 1994 and 2000.
